When you’re up to your eyeballs in work. 👀
How did it get to be the end of August already? Over the course of what feels like a week and a half, I have somehow lost an entire month. School will be starting soon, and I am nowhere near ready for that. School clothes, backpacks, supplies, oh my!
I have made some decent progress on the WIP. Just yesterday I hit the 35,000 word mark, and I am hoping that by the end of next week (assuming next week doesn’t actually end tomorrow), I will be halfway through. And I am having a great time.
In my previous novel, I hit moments of real difficulty with motivation, with this one, I am still in the honeymoon phase of really enjoying the story. That has to be the key, I think. Get it all out on the page while the idea is fresh and exciting.
I have also set up my new story idea so that it will be ready and waiting for me for NaNoWriMo. The characters all have back stories, faces (thank you IMDB), and names (which was strangely difficult for this one). The locations still need some detail, but for the most part, they are set as well.
I don’t think I’ve participated in roughly two years, so this will be a big deal for me. I am very excited for this story. And if I can get the bulk of the first draft finished before the end of the year, then yay!
Two novels written in one year. That thought is a bit staggering, isn’t it? Now I just have to do it.
